Location
INAUGURATION
Museo Íbero
The congress will be inaugurated in the auditorium of the Iberian Museum of Jaén, a unique space entirely dedicated to Iberian culture and a symbol of the province’s rich archaeological heritage.
This modern and avant-garde building, constructed by the Regional Government of Andalusia and inaugurated in 2017, is located at 41 Paseo de la Estación, one of Jaén’s main avenues, less than a five-minute walk from the former School of Education, the main venue of the congress.
It currently hosts a temporary exhibition titled “The Lady, the Prince, the Hero and the Goddess,” which presents archetypal characters of Iberian culture to explore it from a gender perspective.
MAIN VENUE
Antigua Escuela de Magisterio
The main venue of the congress, on the 15th and 16th, will be the Former School of Education of the University of Jaén.
This building was constructed after the Spanish Civil War to provide the Women’s School of Education with its own premises and was inaugurated in 1955.
Renovated and reopened in 2014, it has been adapted as a multifunctional space featuring large conference halls and exhibition areas equipped to host lectures, panel discussions, and workshops.
It is located at 2C Virgen de la Cabeza Street, in an easily accessible area with nearby parking facilities.
CLOSING CEREMONY
Palacio de Cobaleda
The closing cocktail will take place at the Palacio de Cobaleda, also known as the Dean’s House.
It is a modest yet remarkably elegant Renaissance-style civil building that currently houses the city’s College of Architecture.
Located in the very heart of Jaén, it stands next to the Cathedral, at 12 Ramón y Cajal Street.

PROVINCE
PROVINCE OF JAÉN
Known as “Inland Paradise,” Jaén province, located in northeastern Andalusia, is a jewel boasting a wealth of historical, artistic, gastronomic, and natural heritage, and a true refuge for the authenticity of Andalusian and Spanish tradition and the art of living in an increasingly busy, homogenized world. Here are several reasons to discover this province and enjoy a unique southern experience:
- Jaén is the world capital of olive oil. Jaén produces 20% of all olive oil worldwide, thanks to having the largest man-made forest in the world (over 65 million olive trees).
- Olive oil makes its gastronomy unique. Jaén’s culinary revolution has resulted in the city earning the most Michelin stars per square meter in Spain. The “tapa culture” is deeply rooted in Jaén—free appetizers come with drinks, an essential social ritual.
- Jaén has the most castles and fortresses in Europe. Historic crossroads and melting pot, it was a border between Muslim and Christian realms for centuries. The medieval conflicts resulted in an unparalleled network of fortresses, with 237 medieval fortifications.
- Jaén has the largest protected natural space in Spain—spectacular southern forests classified as biosphere reserves, including the Cazorla, Segura, and Las Villas Natural Park, Spain’s largest and Europe’s second largest park.
- Jaén is the only Spanish province with two UNESCO World Heritage cities: Úbeda and Baeza, icons of the Spanish Renaissance, which influenced the urban design of Latin American cities.
CITY
JAÉN CITY
Jaén is a city where history breathes in every corner—a gem of inland Andalusia captivating with its monuments, Arab heritage, and peaceful charm. At the foot of Santa Catalina hill, visitors travel through time among fortresses, ancient baths, and one of Spain’s greatest Renaissance cathedrals.
The Cathedral of the Assumption, Andrés de Vandelvira’s masterpiece, stands majestically at the heart of the city, its bright interior and grand facade reflecting the splendor of Andalusian Renaissance.
Nearby, the Arab Baths, hidden for centuries under a 16th-century Renaissance palace (Villadompardo Palace), amaze with their conservation and vaulted beauty—one of the largest baths in Europe, winning the Europa Nostra prize for heritage conservation. The Baths of El Naranjo (11th century) offer an intimate, hidden gem of Islamic heritage, revealing Jaén’s relationship with water as life and relaxation.
Other outstanding monuments include the Royal Monastery of Santa Catalina (now the Historical Archive), the church of La Magdalena, San Juan de Dios Hospital, the Mudéjar Hall, the San Lorenzo Arch, and the Lizard monument. The Jewish quarter features the Chapel of San Andrés and the Royal Monastery of Santa Clara, while the Museum of Jaén and the Iberian Museum have impressive collections of Iberian sculpture.
Above, Santa Catalina Castle dominates the skyline, offering breathtaking views of the sea of olive trees. Its medieval towers and tranquil setting invite exploration.
Strolling Jaén’s quiet streets, tranquil squares, and savoring extra virgin olive oil—pride of the land—is to discover authenticity and beauty at the heart of Andalusia.
