IMPORTANT DATES
  • Deadline for abstract submission: 22 February 2026
Deadline for confirmation (oral presentation or poster): 12 March 2026
RULES
  1. Free communications will be oral or in poster format. Authors will select the preferred format for their communications. Finally, the Scientific Committee will decide which oral communications will be presented in the corresponding sessions and those not selected may be given the option to be presented as a poster, communicating their decision to the authors with sufficient advance notice.
  2. Communications may be submitted on the topics described in each thematic panel.
  3. To present a communication it will be essential that at least one author be registered for the Congress. Each registered participant may submit a maximum of two abstracts. However, participants may appear as co-authors on abstracts submitted by other registered participants.
  4. The submission deadline ends on 22 February 2026.
  5. Abstracts must be submitted exclusively by email, in a Word file to the Technical Secretariat of the Congress (abstract@icba.es). They must be written in English, and indicate in the following order: Title; authors; speaker; speaker’s workplace; address; direct contact telephone number; e-mail; and DOI (if published); main body of the abstract (with a maximum of 300 words) and 4-6 keywords. In addition, they must clearly indicate the selected theme “Biodiversity in agrosystems”, “Markets, governance and environmental policies” and “Agricultural transfer and practice”, as well as the communication format (oral or poster).
  6. Papers that have been presented at other scientific conferences will not be accepted, but papers published in scientific journals within the last three years will be accepted. The scientific committee will consider the degree of novelty and innovation of the submitted papers during the evaluation process.
  7. Posters will be displayed throughout the Congress in the multipurpose room where coffee breaks and lunches will be held. The author(s) must be present to answer questions from attendees at least during some of these periods.

Presentation Type

Oral Presentation

Oral presentations will be grouped into four thematic sessions. Each session will include a maximum of five presentations. The maximum time allotted for oral presentations is 10 minutes for the presentation itself, plus 2 minutes for questions. Visual aids for each presentation must be in English. The presentation may be given in English or Spanish, as simultaneous interpretation will be provided at the conference.

Poster

Once you are notified that your poster has been accepted, the following specifications apply:

  • The poster format must be VERTICAL, and the dimensions must be 90 x 120 cm. (A0 format)
  • Minimum font size: 24. Smaller font sizes may not be legible.
  • Arial font (recommended)
  • Language: English

BIODIVERSITY IN AGROSYSTEMS

This thematic panel aims to highlight the role of biodiversity in maintaining productive, resilient, and sustainable farming systems. It welcomes recent scientific advances on the flora, fauna, and soil microbiota of agricultural landscapes, including studies addressing the factors and processes that determine their spatiotemporal patterns of presence and abundance, population dynamics, and community structure. It also welcomes research exploring the links between biodiversity and agroecosystem functioning to understand the contribution of biodiversity to ecosystem services and resilience in agricultural landscapes. In addition, the panel invites contributions that develop or apply ecological indicators to assess the state of agroecosystems and their associated biodiversity. The session seeks to translate this knowledge into concrete recommendations on crop and environmental management for producers and policy makers, in order to promote biodiversity and ensure the long-term sustainability of productive agroecosystems.

MARKETS, GOVERNANCE & ENVIRONMENTAL POLICIES

This panel focuses on how global market dynamics and growing environmental concerns are key drivers of biodiversity conservation in agriculture. We welcome contributions that provide in-depth analysis of the issue, examining the sustainable attributes that consumers value and how these attributes translate into economic value. Research on the effectiveness of market-based instruments (such as certifications and payments for ecosystem services) will be particularly relevant. In addition, we will examine how environmental governance and public policies can reinforce these market signals through robust standards, transparent information, and coherent regulatory frameworks. Finally, we invite reflections on the transition costs and challenges companies face in adapting their business models to these emerging requirements. Overall, this panel aims to shed light on the pathways toward more resilient and biodiversity-friendly agri-food systems.

KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER & AGRICULTURAL MANAGEMENT

This panel bridges the critical gap between scientific research and practical application on the ground. We invite contributions that explore how biodiversity conservation strategies can be effectively translated into daily agricultural management. The session will also focus on the efficacy of demonstration models in proving the viability of sustainable practices to stakeholders. Contributions evaluating innovative technological tools designed to facilitate data sharing and decision-making are welcome. A key component of this panel will be understanding the perception of rural communities, acknowledging that successful adoption relies heavily on social acceptance and local context. The session will also examine successful scaling and outreach strategies capable of transforming isolated pilot projects into widespread regional standards and landscape-scale solutions that are based both on improving (multi-) functionality and enhancing implementation and effectiveness above the farm and plot scales.
